A community in the east teamed up with local law enforcement to clean up what has been a nest of sorts for bad behavior.
It happened Sunday off Trails End in the Woodmoor subdivision in Pitt County. The Sheriff's office had several volunteers come out to assist residents in clearing massive overgrowth on the road and near one cul-de-sac where we're told a share of illegal activity tends to happen.
Residents and law enforcement are hoping easier visibility will deter the crime.
"We've had lots of issues with people congregating down at the culdesac, illegal dumping activities, street lights being taken out," said resident Bill Hofler, "We've actually had some robberies in the neighborhood and one of the things we wanted to do is spearhead a neighborhood cleanup effort."
Volunteers and residents spent several hours on the project.
