Deputies say a man charged with kidnapping and committing a sex offense against a young girl said he though the victim was 19.
Becton Briley, Jr. was arrested by Pitt County deputies on Wednesday.
Deputies say the victim was reported missing in Martin County back in September. When the girl returned home, Martin County detectives learned she had allegedly been picked up by Briley, and taken to his home on Oakley Road where they had sex.
Deputies say the man met the teen on the Internet and he thought she was 19 years old. The victim was between 13 and 15 years old.
He is charged with first degree kidnapping and statutory rape or sex offense of a child who is six or more years younger.
The 24-year-old man's bond was set at $1,000,000.
