Police in Ayden have identified the victim of a Saturday night drive-by shooting in Ayden.
Chief Barry Stanley says that 23-year-old Darius Brown of Ayden was hit by gunfire once in the abdomen and once in the leg. Brown is said to be in stable condition at Vidant Medical Center. Chief Stanley says they are giving Brown a few days of recovery before questioning him further.
The shooting happened around 9:40 p.m. Saturday night on West Barwick Drive.

Dispatch says they received the call to West Barwick Drive around 9:40 Saturday evening. Chief Stanley says they don't have a suspect description but believe they left the scene in a small, black in color car.
The victim was taken to Vidant Medical Center.

Pitt County 911 says that it provided dispatch for a report of a person shot in Ayden.
Officials say that the call came in around 9:40 this evening for a shooting victim at West Barwick Drive.
The victim’s condition is not known at this time. Ayden Police had no details at this time but would contact the police chief.
