Pitt County 4-H Members Disappointed With Candidate Forum Turnout

We hear all the time about the presidential election, but what about the local candidates running for office here in the east?

Tuesday night the Pitt County 4-H hosted a meet and greet for candidates running for county, state, and national offices to speak with voters and answer questions. The problem is: besides those affiliated with candidates or 4-H members, only one voter showed up. Pitt County 4-H Member Alaina Suedbeck says people are missing out on a great opportunity.

"We want them to be aware we want them to be educated so they can vote, they know what they're voting for. And they don't trip up and choose somebody that they don't want," said Suedbeck

Flying solo was Carol Williams, who wouldn't go on camera, but said she was disappointed other Pitt County citizens didn't attend. She says she is registered as an independent for the upcoming election.

There is another candidate forum scheduled for next Wednesday October 17th at the Waller Auditorium on the Lenoir Community College campus. That forum will feature candidates from the at-large and District 3 races.
