A man is in trouble with the law after they say he threatened multiple times to kill a Greenville police officer.

Rashaan Rodgers of Raleigh is charged with communicating threats to police after his arrest Tuesday. Police say they stopped to identify Rodgers as he was walking in the Kearney Park public housing area. They say at first Rodgers gave his name without the "d", and after police checked for any warrants they discovered he was wanted for not appearing in court on traffic charges.

While en route to jail, police say the man threatened to kill the officer and any other officers he might encounter in the future. He was also charged with identity theft for providing a false name.

The 40-year-old man's bond was set at $28,000.
