There is new information on a murder for hire plot that ended with the arrests of two people from Pitt County late last week.
John Moore and Edelmira Nichols, both from Fountain, are charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder.
They were arrested by after a month long investigation by Farmville police, Fountain police and the State Bureau of Investigation.
Warrants say Moore tried to have Jonalou Moore killed.
In the other case, Edelmira Nichols is charged with trying to have Vernon Nichols killed at his place of business. We don't yet know the relations of the suspects to victims.
The two suspects appeared this morning at the Pitt County Detention Center for their first court appearance. Bond for the two remains at $2 million each.
Police said it took about a month, but they have now arrested two people in a murder-for-hire plot.
Farmville Police told WITN they have been working alongside the State Bureau of Investigation and Fountain Police for nearly a month on this case.
A detective said John Moore and Edelmira Nichols, both of Farmville, are now facing charges of trying to have a person in Farmville killed. Police said they could not elaborate on the case any further.
Police said both are charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder and two counts of conspiracy to commit murder.
Moore and Nichols are both in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $2 million bond each.
