Police in New York are asking people here in Eastern Carolina to help them catch an identity thief who they say is on a spending spree.
Detectives in Monroe County, New York say a woman has been using a stolen credit card to make multiple purchases in the area over the past several months. The woman has used the card from the coast and all the way to Raleigh. She made several purchases in Greenville on March 13th and 14th at Sears, Kohls and Toys-R-Us.
So far more than $6,000 has been charged on the credit card which was stolen in New York.
Greenville police this afternoon released a surveillance photo of the woman, hoping that some would recognize her.
