A Martin County man says he saw his life flash before his eyes Monday afternoon when he was hit by his girlfriend's car.

David Hall, Jr. struck the windshield, and then was flipped over the vehicle in the parking lot of Logan's Roadhouse in Greenville.

Crystal Council has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, two counts of misdemeanor child abuse and reckless driving to endanger.

Witnesses say they saw Hall get out of the car with two children inside, Council drove a short distance, went around a light pole and in words of one witness, "floored it" toward Hall.

The man was released last night from Vidant Medical Center with just a cracked elbow, skinned knee, but a smile on his face. He talked to WITN's Lynnette Taylor about his close call with death.

Hall says the two were arguing the whole way from Martin County about gas money and a job. Hall was going to his job when Council let him out at the nearby restaurant.

"I know my life flashed before my eyes, when I was tossed in the air, because I didn't know if I was going to land on my neck or break my back or anything," said Hall

He says they had dated for about 18 months, but Monday's assault was the last straw.

Council remains in jail with no bond because it was a domestic violence case.
