In the Pitt County town of Grimesland trees were down over power lines and over homes. Rita Rowe and her husband were inside their double wide when the storm came through and trees crashed into her bedroom and the kitchen. She and her husband, sought refuge in the bathroom as the storm passed.
"I thank God because I think my husband thought for a minute there that we might be gone within 5 or 10 minutes, but we didn't panic, but after we got out it was just a shock to us," said Rita Rowe.
Joe Dyson owns a car shop off Highway 33 and had the roof ripped off the building. He says this is the worst damage he's seen. They plan to rebuild, and possibly have a temporary shop opened next week.
