Students at a local college will get the chance to experience what it's like to have a mental illness, starting Wednesday.
Pitt Community College Health Science students will be taking a two-day Virtual Dementia Tour, which aims to increase awareness and sensitivity to those living with the illness.
The virtual tour will put students in situations where they can experience how it feels to be an aging adult with dementia.
After taking the tour, students will be able to reflect on the simulated experiences during an open discussion.
The Virtual Dementia Tour will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Pitt Community College in Winterville.
