UPDATE: Suspects Charged In Pitt County Store Robbery

Three suspects are charged with attempted armed robbery after a hold-up at a Pitt County convenience store. 19-year-old Calvin Allen, 20-year-old Malik Gorham, both of Farmville, and 18-year-old Darrius Ward of Greenville are behind bars under $100,000 bonds.

Joyners Service Station on Highway 258 and Stantonsburg Road was held up Tuesday afternoon.

Pitt County deputies have three people in custody after an armed robbery this afternoon at a corner market according to the store owner. He also tells WITN a shotgun was found down the road.

Captain Paula Dance says it happened at Joyners Store on Highway 258 and Stantonsburg Road in Pitt County.

The store owner tells us the three robbers came in while his wife was working. The owner says one man came in alone first and asked to buy cigarettes. He says his wife asked for an ID. He told her he'd be back, and when he returned he came back with two more men and they robbed the store.

The owner says he found his wife outside shaking and she was taken to Vidant Medical Center because she was so upset and stressed.

Deputies have not yet released the names of those in custody or their charges.
