The monthly vigil against violence in Greenville was a celebration of life, even though there were two recent murders.
The Citizens United Against Violence met for their monthly vigil Thursday night, but since there were no homicide victims between May 15th and June 15th, they celebrated life.
After the shooting on 4th street last weekend and the stabbing on Concord Drive, retired Greenville Captain Cecil Hardy already knows what next months vigil will be like. We'll be doing two. That's sad. Both situations just shouldn't have happened."
Still, Hardy said it's nice to have at least one month without violence.
The vigil to remember shooting victim Dontae Haddock and stabbing victim Hope Cutler will be on Thursday, August 2nd at the Pitt County Courthouse at 7:00 p.m.
