A joint investigation by a local sheriff's office and the Secretary of State's Office led to the seizure of dozens of counterfeit goods, and the arrest of one man.
The Pitt County Sheriff's Office says their search of the Ayden stockyard on Wednesday led to the arrest of 33-year-old Bobby Ray Manning. Authorities say they found Manning with 88 pirated DVD movies and 94 pirated music CD's. A second table containing 46 counterfeit DVD's and CD's were found abandoned.
In addition to what was seized at the Ayden stockyard, the task force seized counterfeit goods from two kiosks at the Greenville mall including Silverado jewelry, and Perfume and Fashions. Silverado Jewelry was found to be in the possession of one counterfeit Casio G-Shock watch and jewelry. Perfume and Fashions surrendered ten counterfeit Casio G-Shock watches and twelve pair of Chanel earrings. Both businesses were put on notice by the Secretary of State's Office.
More counterfeit items were seized from Tobacco Plus on Old Tar Road in Winterville. Officials say the business surrendered 35 prescription boxes of contact lens, 21 individual packs of prescription contact lens, as well as, counterfeit Coke, Budweiser, and Heineken products.
