A local sheriff's office effort to arrest people accused of not paying child support appears to be working.
Four people were arrested Wednesday in Pitt County on charges of "nonsupport of the child." The suspects include Christopher Buck of Greenville, William Elks of Grimesland, John Sappington of Greenville, and Clayton Williams of Greenville.
Williams is one of 19 suspects listed by the sheriff as owing more than $10,000. Lawmen say he owes $31,021.43.
