Students at Wahl Coates Elementary School in Greenville traded in their traditional school uniforms in favor of t-shirts Monday to show support for a fellow student who needs a heart transplant.
Students and staff at the school we're all decked out in blue to show support for Malaysia Suggs. The third grader suffers from a heart condition and is awaiting a heart transplant at Duke University Medical Center.
Malaysia's teacher says the students wanted to find a way to help her so they decided to sell $10.00 t-shirts and $3.00 wrist bands to help raise money to cover the costs of a transplant. A benefit night also took place at the Chick-fil-A in the Greenville mall.
The benefit doubled as a birthday party because Malaysia turned 10-years-old Monday.
