Around 50,000 people participated in game day activities in Greenville and the roadways were packed.
Police stepped up patrols near the stadium, paying special attention to foot traffic.
Several streets were blocked off to accommodate tailgater and fans traveled from all over to get to Dowdy-Ficklen stadium.
Some people from out of town said their plans were disrupted by the traffic.
Scott Lineberger said, “It’s really packed. I got here around 6:30 this morning and set up and around 8 people started filling in.”
ASU student Lillia Spangler said, “It was surprising at how many people were on the road. I didn’t know if they were going to the beach or coming here, but we did hit some traffic. It took us about 5 hours. It was a long drive.”
