Pitt County deputies say a man who bolted in handcuffs from a courtroom this morning has turned himself in to authorities.
Jamie Taft is now back in custody.
Deputies say Taft escaped from the courthouse this morning during a hearing and stole a bicycle that was out in front of the building. Witnesses say they saw the man, still handcuffed, pedaling down the street.
A short time later Greenville police found the stolen bicycle and brought it back to the courthouse to its owner.

Authorities have recovered a bicycle stolen by a man in handcuffs out in front of the Pitt County Courthouse this morning.
A spokeswoman for the Pitt County Sheriff's Office says the man escaped from a courtroom this morning, even though his hands were handcuffed in the front.
Witnesses say the man, who they say had been in child support court, then stole a bicycle. The man was last seen pedaling down the street in handcuffs.
Greenville police later found the stolen bike and have since returned it to the owner at the courthouse. The man in handcuffs is still on the run.
