Keeping your home cool during these warm summer months can be costly and if you don't have an air conditioner it can be very challenging to keep your house at a comfortable temperature.
In Greenville we found some people who said they have no air conditioning and others who say they do have air conditioning, but they can't afford to turn it on. Now some of those residents are finding relief from Greenville Utilities by giving away fans to those in need.
For the last 20 years Greenville Utilities has donated nearly 100 fans to the Pitt County Council on Aging and the Pitt County Human Services Center where they can be distributed to those in need.
You must be at least 60 years old to qualify for a fan at the council of aging. However, if you are in need of a fan and are under 60, you can go by the human services center to see if you qualify to get a free fan there.
