POLICE: Greenville Teen Beaten While Crowd Watched

A teen is behind bars, charged with robbing another teen at gunpoint and beating him unconscious.

Sixteen-year-old Keontae Cherry is currently locked up in Greenville. Police say Cherry robbed a 16-year-old last Wednesday at the railroad tracks between the Kearney Park and Hopkins Park public housing areas.

The victim told police the people responsible were gang members. He also told detectives, several people watched while he was beaten, but they did nothing to stop it.

Cherry is being held under a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to have his first court appearance Friday morning.
