New job nationwide numbers were out Friday. 12.7 million Americans are out of work right now. The unemployment rate is creeping up, but the percentage stayed the same: 8.2%.

The state numbers won't be out until next week. However, we found several Greenville businesses saying business is good and they are looking to hire. This As Greenville was just named one of the top ten, small places for business and careers by Forbes magazine.

Mongolian barbeque restaurant Hu Hot just opened up in late April and owners say after scouting all over eastern North Carolina they chose Greenville because of the demographics and the growth. They say between the university and hospital, there's enough stability to make a gamble. That means jobs for this area too.

"East Carolina, Pitt Community College, Vidant Medical Center, the driving economic engines for our area certainly attract young professionals to come here, and that's what people like restaurant owners and other small businesses want. They want that kind of foot traffic coming through the door," said Trent McGee
With the Greenville Chamber of Commerce

McGee says there's been an influx of small businesses opening recently in Greenville.
