Greenville police say what appears to be random gunfire hit a house where people were inside. According to the case report, shots were fired at 411 W. Third St. in Greenville at 1:39 a.m. Wednesday.
Sgt. Joe Friday says a couple of people inside the house were asleep, while others were awake watching TV, when gunfire on the street hit the front door. Sgt. Friday says there is no information the family was targeted.
Detectives are attempting to follow up on the investigation, but Sgt. Friday says there are no leads at this time.
The case report says detectives found nine shell casings at the scene. In addition to a bullet hole found in the front door, bullets also damaged a Honda Accord.
According to the case report, similar crimes have been reported in the neighborhood.
