Greenville Police: Gunfire On The Street Hit House

Greenville police say what appears to be random gunfire hit a house where people were inside. According to the case report, shots were fired at 411 W. Third St. in Greenville at 1:39 a.m. Wednesday.

Sgt. Joe Friday says a couple of people inside the house were asleep, while others were awake watching TV, when gunfire on the street hit the front door. Sgt. Friday says there is no information the family was targeted.

Detectives are attempting to follow up on the investigation, but Sgt. Friday says there are no leads at this time.

The case report says detectives found nine shell casings at the scene. In addition to a bullet hole found in the front door, bullets also damaged a Honda Accord.

According to the case report, similar crimes have been reported in the neighborhood.

    Hey, just be glad it's Greenville. I hear late night gunfire in Williamston all the time, and no one even bothers to report it. It's just business as usual here.

    OK, the police can only do so much guys. They dont have the support they need first of all.the chief has no backbone, he wants to shake hands and look good. Trust me, if they could they would blow up that side of town,we all know where the problem is. Give the police free reign for one week, you'd see how much of a difference it would be..

    Really, gunshots on Third St and not the first time. You know not. And 92% of folks think Greenville is safe... LOL what a joke. I wouldn't be caught dead in West Greenville or downtown after dark and maybe not even before dark. Actually, dead is what I could be if I went into any of those areas. No they didn't poll me and I have lived here over 50 years.

    One only has to go to the N.C.D.O.C website and look at current releases and see where the problem lies.it's the merry-go-round.look at how many leaches are feeding off each arrest.I think it's about 6 correct me if I'm wrong.Police,Jailer,Judge,prison guard's,prison warden,court appointed lawyers.

    All I can say is be more active in your community!!Call the Police, Mayor, and the people (Kandi Smith) you elected for that District. Keep them on their toes, and YOU have to SNITCH also. I do and I am proud of it....

    Oh boy here comes Calvin H., Rebel Rose,and Dashing Don C. for a press conference with 8 people present to state what the PD is not doing,No way can the PD stop these thugs that want to do stuff like this,I just wish the media would not report the mess and just ignore stupidity.We'll probably be reading about another ''Dream'' park going up here in the future

    No big surprise.... I would be more surprised if there were not shooting in this area. Hmmmm...It does not take a genius to know where the crime is in greenville.
