A Greenville woman is $2,000 richer after winning a statewide marketing contest hosted by the Department of Commerce.
Sara Cowell, a social media manager and videographer for a local newspaper, entered the What N.C. Stands For contest. It was an open, crowd sourcing effort to capture marketing ideas through creative expression.
The Department of Commerce says ideas garnered from the competition will be used to help develop a new brand for North Carolina.
Cowell submitted a video featuring a traditional musical instrument maker with a big personality from the mountains outside of Banner Elk. Her video beat out over 250 other entries to take home the top prize.
Cowell says she was both humbled and happy to win. Her proud father David is a long-time employee here at WITN. Congratulations, Sara!
