A bike rider from Greenville is preparing for the longest ride of his life, and it's all in the name of charity.
Dr. Dennis Ross, a Greenville orthodontist, plans to ride more than 3,000 miles from Atlantic Beach to San Diego, California.
Dr. Ross' goal is to raise money for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Pitt County and to support their healthy lifestyles programs.
Dr. Ross has completed similar rides to Florida and Canada in the past.
He starts his latest journey on September, 26th and hopes to complete the trip in under two weeks, riding 18 hours or more everyday.
Dr. Ross says he expects to drink 40 Gatorades and ride 250 miles per day through conditions that could include snow in the Rockies and searing heat in the desert southwest.
Dr. Ross says he hopes his trip will inspire people to donate to the Boys and Girls Clubs.
