A Greenville man is in jail after police say he shot into a pickup truck with two people inside.
Morehead City police have charged Dennis Clinton with attempted murder, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, and damage to property.
Police say around 3:10 a.m. Monday they got the call to the Handy Mart on Arendell Street.
A man and a woman said they were at the store getting gas. As the man went inside to pay, the woman told police a man approached the truck and made some sort of comment, lifting his shirt and showing a handgun.
After the other victim came back and tried to leave, the victims say the man began firing at the truck. The man ran from his truck, while the woman hid on the floor. The truck was hit multiple times, one bullet went through the front driver's side windshield, while the back window was shot out.
Fortunately no one was injured.
Clinton was taken into custody in the parking lot of Carteret General Hospital and jailed on a $250,000 bond.
Police say they have no motive for the shooting.
