A solemn recognition ceremony was held this Veterans Day weekend, to honor the families of 5 military members who gave their lives.
5 Gold Star families were recognized this evening by the group Honor and Remember at the Greenville Hilton.
Republican Congressman Walter Jones was the keynote speaker.
Gold Star families are those that have lost a loved one as a result of active duty service.
Honored were the families of Sgt. Lee Wilson, Technical Sergeant Phillip Meyers, Sgt. Howard Pittman Junior, Master Sgt. Scott Badgley, and Lieutenant Junior Grade Bruce Winter.
"America needs to do more of this, and I’m pleased with the crowd here tonight,” said Rep. Jones, “It certainly is solemn when you look at the film on the wall and it shows the faces of the young men who didn't come home, some did come home, but they were so wounded both mentally and physically, that they had a tough time adjusting to life."
A silent auction was also held to benefit Honor & Remember.
