The two candidates running for the District 1 Council seat in Greenville squared off In a Debate Wednesday night.
Greenville City Councilwoman Kandie Smith and challenger Clinton Anderson were at the C.M. Eppes Rec Center for a debate.
It was one of three debates organized by the Benevolence Corps.
We spoke with Smith and Anderson before the debate about what they feel is the biggest problem in West Greenville, a large portion of District 1.
Smith says, "We're trying to make sure we get our people to the jobs because that can help decrease some of the crime, but we also want to make sure we're getting people to education, and making sure they know the resource is out there."
Anderson says, "I was very hurt to see how some people are living in those homes that they're renting. And of course, I know that the economics is down too, but still, the living conditions need to be improved upon."
Election day is November 5th.
