Greenville Attorney Vehemently Denies Ethics Violations

A local lawyer and judicial candidate says he will fight the North Carolina State Bar, which found him guilty of 34 of the 35 ethics violations filed against him in a lengthy document.

Greenville Attorney David Sutton tells WITN that he vehemently disagrees with the State Bar.

The ethics complaints include issues in the courtroom, in depositions, e-mails and phone messages. Among the violations are points of contention from the controversial civil lawsuit involving former Pitt County Lieutenant Michelle Pollard and her late husband Stacy.

In a statement to WITN, Sutton says, "I am not guilty of being unethical and I will never accept any decision that says otherwise."

Sutton is running for District Court judge.

The State Bar is now reviewing his possible punishment. WITN will let you know what they decide.
