33 people are in custody after a 3 month investigation by Greenville Police.
"Operation Clean Sweep" started on February 1st targeting people committing drug-related crimes, robberies, assaults and other crimes in the area. Interim Chief Joe Bartlett said it wasn't exclusively gangs that were under investigation.
"Probably 50% of the people we arrested or we have warrants on were associated with a gang. The other 50% were not they were just involved with criminal activities," said Bartlett.
The police are continuing to investigate and believe there could be up to 50 arrests when they are finished. The areas they focused on were Frontgate Drive, Myrtle Avenue, and West Third Street.
