Five people had to be hospitalized Saturday afternoon after a two vehicle wreck in Pitt County.
It happened just before 4 p.m. on US 13 near Frog Level Road.
Troopers say 25-year-old Joey Ayers of Greenville was driving a silver passenger car. They say he attempted to make a left onto US 13 from LKQ, a self service auto parts store, when he failed to yield the right away and got t-boned by an SUV. The SUV was driven by 22-year-old Shatrice Baker of Farmville.
Troopers say the SUV overturned after it was hit. Originally it was reported that a passenger was ejected from the SUV, but troopers say that passenger actually crawled out of the vehicle and collapsed on the road. The passenger car went into a ditch.
All five people involved in wreck were transported by EMS to Vidant Medical Center. Troopers do not believe anyone had life threatening injuries.
Ayers has been charged with a yield violation.
Traffic was shut down in the area for 20 to 25 minutes, but has since been reopened.
