Deputies have made an arrest in a weekend murder where friends of the victim were rushing him to the hospital and they crashed their vehicle.
Cecil Blount was shot early Saturday in the Walstonburg area. His friends loaded him in a car, but wrecked en route to the hospital.
Kwanzi Ormond of Greenville has now been charged with Blount's murder.
The 19-year-old was arrested shortly before 4:00 p.m. and is being held with no bond.
Deputies have not said what a possible motive was in the murder.
A man was shot in Walstonburg around 3 a.m. Saturday, and died on his way to the hospital.
Sheriff Lemmie Smith tells WITN Cecil Blount, a man in his 20's, was shot in the Walstonburg area.
Sheriff Smith said two of Blount's friends loaded him in a vehicle and were on their way to the hospital when they wrecked.
The Highway Patrol confirms they are investigating at wreck shortly after 3 a.m. At the intersection of School House Road near Mercer Road.
The vehicle was driving fast and hit a tree, according to investigators.
Sheriff Smith said despite the wreck, Blount died as a result of the gunshot.
The investigation into this case continues.
No word yet on any suspects in the shooting case.
