It was a very exciting day Friday for a group of medical students in the east as they found out where they'll spend the next few years as doctors-in-training.
Graduating East Carolina University med students found out which residency programs they were matched with, and were cheered on by their friends and family.
Before they can provide direct patient care, U.S. medical school graduates normally complete a three to seven year residency in a recognized medical specialty.
Med students across the country also found out which residency program they were matched with as part of the national match day.
