People in one Eastern Carolina city gathered to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, all while getting connected to local resources.
The 1st Annual Hispanic Community Day was held in Greenville Sunday, and was organized by the Pathways For Life Agency. The agency works to provide resources that help people maintain good mental health and avoid substance abuse.
Local organizations like the Vidant Medical Center were on hand giving information about resources in the community
Event organizer Varinia Soler spoke about the need for such events, "The Hispanic community doesn't know about what resources are available to them, and sometimes they don't know that these people speak Spanish, and that's a barrier they have. This way they can come here, they can talk to them, they can ask questions, they can take one of their cards, the information, and they can pass that information on to other people."
