Heat-related illnesses are not up at the region's largest health care provider even though this July has been one of the hottest on record with the heat index often soaring over the 100 degree mark.
Vidant Health Systems says they've only seen ten patients for heat related illnesses. That includes all ten of the Vidant Hospitals across Eastern Carolina.
Hospital officials say they think people are paying more attention to the warnings and advice of health care professionals when they're working outside in the heat.
Vidant officials say their facilities are staying prepared to treat heat-related illnesses throughout the rest of the summer.
