Pitt County's industry of the year has a new name and a new partnership.
If you've driven by the DSM Pharmaceuticals plant in Greenville, you've probably seen the new name. Patheon is a combination of DSM and Patheon out of Durham, for what they call an industry powerhouse.
There are more than 1,200 employees at the Greenville site and according to the company, the facility will build and add value to Patheon's global footprint. They say it will also help service the needs of their customers.
Wanda Yuhas, Executive Director of Pitt County's Development Commission, says the partnership continues to build on the pharmaceutical company that makes medicines for AIDS and cancer patients, among other drugs.
We're told Patheon is 51% of the partnership and that DSM is 49%. DSM Dyneema will stay the same.
As far as new job opportunities, the company would not comment.
