Deputies in Pitt County are investigating claims of a bizarre robbery in the east from Sunday night.
Asiel Benitez told investigators around 10:20 Sunday night, two men approached him asking for cash and permission to use his cell phone.
That was near the 1600 block of Debsan Circle.
When Benitez refused, that's when he says the group doubled to four men.
Deputies say Benitez told them the robbers forced him to drink what he believes was rat poison, and then robbed him of his cell phone and $5 in cash at knife-point.
A Sheriff's Office spokeswoman says investigators had a difficult time communicating with Benitez who could not provide them with a description of his attackers.
