It's a nearly $5 million addition to the Uptown area and has both civic and business leaders excited.
The city of Greenville officially broke ground on the public parking deck Wednesday evening. It's being built at the corner of 4th and Cotanche streets, which is the site of the former Moseley lot.
The old lot offered 77 parking spaces while the new four-story parking deck will provide 238.
"It's a tremendous investment," said Mayor Allen Thomas. "This parking facility, over 200 plus spaces, will enable the four or five retail projects which have decided to locate down here because of the investment made in our Uptown area."
The parking deck is expected to open in December.
