Crews Restore Power After Cement Truck Flips In Winterville

Power crews restored electricity to customers along Worthington Road in Winterville after a cement truck went off the road, rolled into a ditch, and landed on a power pole.

Officials on the scene said the driver of the truck has been taken to the hospital. No word yet on that driver's condition. No other vehicles were involved in the wreck.

Neighbors say they heard what sounded like a tire skidding off the road, a crash, then the lights went out.

Crews with Greenville Utilities said this morning that 43 customers had lost power due to the wreck.

An overturned cement truck on a Winterville road is causing some traffic to be re-routed and some residents along the road are without power.

WITN has a photographer on the scene who is reporting a cement truck has overturned into a ditch along Worthington Road in Winterville, near the intersection of County Home Road, and landed on a utility pole.

Officials on the scene said the driver of the truck has been taken to the hospital. No word on that driver's condition.

Law enforcement officials have blocked part of Corey Road near Worthington Road to through traffic and are directing drivers around with accident.
