A former ECU football player who played for the Canadian Football League was arrested by Greenville police over the July 4th weekend.
Jonathan Williams was charged with driving with a revoked license and resist/obstruct a public officer after a traffic stop on South Memorial Drive Friday afternoon.
Police said Williams was stopped and there were issues with his registration and inspection. When officers approached him, police say Williams became combative and would not cooperate with them.
While at ECU, Williams was suspended multiple times after being arrested for various offenses. Those included drunk driving, resisting arrest and misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon.
The running back was named an All-Conference Honorable Mention in 2010 and was signed by the Cincinatti Bengals, but never played. He is currently listed as a free agent with the CFL.
