Bridge Reconstruction Causes Detour In Pitt County

Crews will begin work on Monday to repair the damage to a bridge that was struck by a vehicle. This work will cause a 12 mile detour for drivers.

Maintenance to the bridge on Old River Road in Pitt County will begin at 8:00 Monday morning. The bridge will be closed for the next 10 to 11 days, according to the Department of Transportation.

There will be a 12 mile detour from Old River Road, to Barrus Construction Road, to Highway 33, back to Old River Road. We're told that next year the bridge will be completely replaced.
