Greenville police say no charges have been filed yet in a crash that shut down South Memorial Drive for several hours Sunday.
Police tell us they were called to the scene around 4:30 p.m. after a car crashed into a utility pole on Memorial Drive near Mall Drive creating a big mess.
Police say the driver, 26-year-old Chee Lee of Greenville, was injured and taken to the hospital. His condition is not known at this time. Investigators said alcohol or some other impairment may be a factor in the crash. They say Lee's vehicle was traveling around 65 miles per hour.
The road was closed down for several hours while crews fixed the electrical issues. Some power outages were reported in the area, but all of that has been fixed.
The Greenville Police Department is investigating a vehicle crash involving downed power lines. The crash occurred on Memorial Drive near the Ruby Tuesday Restaurant. The damaged power lines have caused Memorial Drive to be closed by the patrol units on scene.
Police are requesting that no one attempt to travel north on Memorial Drive from Thomas Langston/ Regency Boulevard intersection or south from the intersection of Greenville Boulevard and Memorial Drive. Memorial Drive is totally closed due to this vehicle crash.
