UPDATE: Greenville Man Shot In Head, Bethel Man Shot In Stomach

One person was shot in the head, another in the stomach on the streets of Greenville earlier this week.

Greenville police say 20-year-old Darrius Staton of Greenville was shot in the head in front of 1016 Ward St. in Greenville, just before midnight Tuesday. Police say 21-year-old Keyvin Dixon of Bethel was shot in the stomach.

Police describe Dixon's wounds as non-life threatening. However, Staton required immediate surgery at Vidant Medical Center.

Police say the victims and witnesses told police that the driver of a blue car got out of the vehicle in front of 1016 Ward St., spoke to Dixon and Staton briefly, and then fired five to six shots. Several bullets hit the house, police say, where four people were inside. Among them was a four-year-old child. No one in the house was hurt.

A woman who says she is a relative, Donna Staton, says the child was in the back bedroom of the home when the shots were fired.

Witnesses described the suspect as a black male with short dreadlocks, who appears to be either in his late teens or early 20s. He was wearing a white T-shirt.
