Two Charged In Pastor's Murder Go Before Judge

Two men charged in the murder of Pastor Jim Carr of Greenville made their first appearance Monday morning.

The judge set the bonds for 20 year-old Tyrell Artis and 22-year-old Shamel Brown at $2 million each. Their next court appearance is scheduled for September 27.

Additionally, Artis is scheduled to have a probation hearing on September 24. Police say he was on probation at the time of Carr's murder, but was not checking in with his probation officer.

Police believe Artis was the gunman, but both are charged with murder and burglary for the August 20 slaying of Jim Carr in his home in the Westhaven neighborhood in Greenville.
