The Ohio man who survived a fiery head-on collision in Pitt County Wednesday remains in seriously injured.
An official at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville said Thursday afternoon that 39-year-old David Yoakem was listed in serious condition. Troopers say passers-by had pulled him from his burning truck on Highway 43 south of Chicod in Pitt County.
The crash killed 34-year-old Christopher Tripp of New Bern, according to the Highway Patrol. Troopers say Tripp caused the crash, so no charges will be filed.
A fiery crash Wednesday afternoon killed one person and closed down Highway 43, south of Greenville.
The accident, between Chicod School and Highway 102, happened around 4:20 p.m.

Troopers say Tripp was driving a blue Kia south when he crossed the center line and hit a black GMC truck head on. David Yoakem, 39-years-old of Ohio, was in that truck which ended up in a ditch and caught fire.
Some passersby were able to pull Yoakem to safety. He is at Vidant Medical Center.
Troopers say Tripp was responsible for the wreck.
Traffic on Highway 43 wass detoured down Ivan Harris Road.
