An Ayden man charged with armed robbery is scheduled to make a first appearance Tuesday morning in court in Pitt County.
Dwayne Whitehurst, 34, was arrested by Greenville police on Monday, according to officials at the Pitt County Detention Center. His bond was set at $100,000.
Sgt. Joe Friday says the victim befriended Whitehurst about a week ago. However, Whitehurst showed up at the victim's house on East 5th St. in Greenville Sunday and used a knife to demand money. Sgt. Friday says Whitehurst robbed his new friend of $80 and fled.
