An autopsy shows a landlord who was found dead had been shot several times in the head.
The body of 64-year-old Michael Burgwardt was found last November at Summer Place Gardens in Greenville.
An upstairs neighbor told WITN News that she saw Burgwardt's vehicle parked, with its trunk popped open. She went downstairs where his door was cracked open and she saw his legs on the floor and called 911.
The autopsy report from the Pitt County medical examiner shows Burgwardt had been shot three times in the head.
Neighbors say Burgwardt was a landlord for several tenants at the complex.
