Famous astronaut Mark Kelly was in Eastern Carolina Tuesday.
Kelly visited J. H. Rose High School in Greenville and talked about his experiences in space and also the dramatic incident with his wife, Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, after she was shot in January of last year.
Giffords was shot in the head after a man opened fire outside a grocery store during a meet and greet.
Kelly says he wants visits like this to encourage children in school to remember these years are the stepping stones to something great. Kelly says, "Kids are generally interested in space flight and science. I think it's good for them to hear people from the other side and what their careers were like and how It's important to do well in school so you can have options when you get older."
Kelley was the commander of space shuttle Endeavor's last launch in April of 2011.
