PREVIOUS STORY:

Deputies say Kayden Chavis is a six day old black baby boy, approximately 20 inches tall and weighs just six pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

Jessica Chavis, the baby's mother, allegedly abducted the baby. She is 30 years old, 5'4" tall and weighs 130 pounds. She has black hair and black eyes.

Deputies say the baby is believed to be with the mother and is endangered. Captain Paula Dance tells WITN News that there was a plan in place for the Department of Social Services to get custody of the baby. Dance says the mother was aware of that plan and they believe she got scared and took off with the child.

The Sheriff's Office says they have no leads at this time and that the family is cooperating. The baby was last seen Saturday at 7:00 p.m., but the Amber Alert was just issued late Monday afternoon.

Deputies say Chavis has other children who are not in her custody. They cannot say why the mother lost custody of the newborn, or her other children.
