In an effort to eliminate parking problems, two former businesses on 10th street in Greenville have now been turned into parking lots for ECU.
The ECU Foundation, a non-profit, currently owns the properties. ECU says it is working to purchase the lots and it will cost the university $1.5 million.
The extra parking likely won't help ease student parking concerns during the day. That's because the university says the lots are primarily for faculty and staff. Students aren't allowed to park there until after 4:00 p.m.
ECU Vice Chancellor for Administration, Rick Niswander, says the university's master plan is to continue to expand parking on 10th street, acquiring property if they become available.
