Greenville's Tar Heels Play In Semi-Final

Elm Street Park in Greenville will likely be packed with fans Tuesday evening for the semi-final games in the The Little League Tournament of State Champions. Greenville's Tar Heel team is still hunting down the championship.

The Tar Heels represent the state of North Carolina in the tournament of eight state champions teams. North Carolina wil play Florida Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. They defeated West Virginia to advance to the semi-finals. The winners of Tuesday's two semi-final games will meet in the championship game Wednesday at 6 p.m.



Previous Story:The Little League Tournament of State Champions continues in Greenville this week with the Greenville Tar Heel team still in contention for the championship title.

The Greenville team defeated the South Carolina squad Sunday 12-2 in five innings. The win grants the Tar Heels a chance to play West Virginia Monday at 11 a.m. At the conclusion of the pool play round on Monday, the top four teams plus any other team with a winning record will advance to the single elimination bracket round.

The tournament brought the state champion Little League teams from eight states to Greenville.

    The media covers what u call in. Sorry i guess WITN could not go to whereever S. Pitt 11s regional was. Elm Street is pretty close. Both groups did great. Sothern Pitt 14s? They played in greenville babe ruth all season. There are called Pitt County. Not Southern Pitt. The 15s from same league called Greenville also advanced to se regionals begining tomm. Have not seen any media for them but there not whining.

    You are right, Data Man. Southern Pitt 11 year olds won the State and the Regional and no story by the media. Southern Pitt 14 year olds won the State and play in the Regionals tomorrow and no story by the media... And these are just the teams that I know about from Southern Pitt.

    Fed Up, if you notice that Greenville Tarheel gets all of the publicity. NorthState 11-12 went to the stay playoff and you never heard about it!

    I wonder why the teams in Greenville never play the Southern Pitt Teams. Greenville little league gets tons of publicity while the Southern Pitt Teams quietly continue to play well and claim State and Regional titles.

    NorthState 11-12 would have probaly won out down here if they had played their strongest kids in the right place. One little kid had a rocket in the outfield but didnt even hardly play at all. I guess they came down for vaccation or something.
